  1. When a good friend of mine died suddenly back in 2005, we did this for him…. went into his apartment a couple hours after he passed before his out-of-town family could get there and wiped all the porn off his computer (as well as clearing the history, cache, etc), carted out his porno and adult toys, and grabbed a few things he’d told us he didn’t want his family to have if something happened to him.

I’d absolutely recommend anyone that lives by themself, regardless of sexuality, give a key to a trusted friend and tell them where they can find this kind of stuff in your house/apartment. We all have stuff we wouldn’t want our parents/siblings to see… and they’re the ones that will be clearing out your place if you don’t.

I’d also advise to give them something in writing they can use in case the family finds out and decides to raise a stink about it. While any good friend will do this regardless, you don’t want them to have to face legal consequences if the family accuses them of stealing.

  2. This is a good subject to talk about. I don’t have any kinky stuff like toys or things like that at my place because of this. Don’t wan’t any friend to be doing any “cleaning of my private things”. I have videos of myself but mostly uploaded online, trying to keep my computer and web history clean.

  3. Back in the 1980’s lots of gay men who died of AIDS weren’t out to their families, and sadly in many cases where they lived miles away from them in cities such as New York, San Francisco and London, their families’ first inkling that they were gay was when they received the news that they were on their death bed as a result of that vile illness.

So in those cases it was understandable that they and their friends wouldn’t want the family to find a stash of gay porn or sex toys or whatever in their apartment, as it would have been a shock to them and would have only compounded their grief.

But hey, we’re now in 2022 and quite rightly most gay guys are out to their family. And everyone knows we like porn and stuff..as do millions of straight people! So who’s bothered if their family comes across something that’s not quite to their ‘taste’ after they die? I know I’m not. And when I’m dead it’ll be the least of my worries, quite honestly.
