Kit Connor has received his first-ever Emmy for his performance as Nick Nelson in Netflix’s Heartstopper. The 18-year-old won the trophy for Outstanding Lead Performance in a Preschool, Children’s, or Young Teen Program at the first annual Children’s & Family Emmy Awards on Sunday.

Although Connor wasn’t present at the ceremony, his Hearstopper costars Sebastian Croft and Will Gao accepted the award on his behalf. “Kit, he’s been so inspiring for us, and he really led the company of actors and this is so well-deserved. I can’t wait to give this to him,” Gao said. “Well done, Kit!” Later, Connor took to his Instagram Stories to celebrate the win, writing, “Well this is cool. Thank you so much to everyone who watched the show.”
