PornHub wants to buy Tumblr

Yahoo pretty much managed to drive every single company they acquired into the ground. Tumblr is no exception. After the site banned nudity in December to attract more advertisers, the platform’s traffic crashed in record time. Now Tumblr is allegedly up for sale. If only someone would have told Yahoo that advertisers don’t particular care for sites with no users.

And according to BuzzFeed there’s at least one party that’s very much interested in buying it: PornHub. If this sale actually happens this would of course mean a complete 180° on Tumblr’s stance on nudity seeing how PornHub is all about spreading, well, porn.

PornHub Vice President Corey Price told BuzzFeed: “Tumblr was a safe haven for those who wanted to explore and express their sexuality, adult entertainment aficionados included. We’ve long been dismayed that such measures were taken to eradicate erotic communities on the platform, leaving many individuals without an asylum through which they could comfortably peruse adult content.”

Tumblr was sold to Yahoo for $1.1 billion in 2013. Yahoo then was bought up by Verizon. But by 2016, Yahoo had written down the blogging platform’s value by $230 million. With the massive exodus of angry users after the nudity ban, the site would probably cost a lot less nowadays.

  1. “”the site would probably cost a lot less nowadays””

Good. Now all we have to do is wait a few more weeks. Then Yahoo will PAY the buyer! Honestly, each time I see some idiot moral bastard trying to save my soul, the first thing that come to my mind is that the strongest demand for internet porn comes from the bible belt.

  2. It’s so nice to see that the “Moral Majority” is getting exactly what they deserved, No One Wants Them! LOL Once PornHub buys Tumblr, it’ll go back to what it was, and Quadruple it’s Membership!! Whoopee! I can’t wait

    1. This is only one of the many things that are wrong when you have one company BUYIONG another company. Those doing the buying DID NOT create what they are buying. ALL they care about is “the bottom line”. The US is self-destructing while SICK, diseased idiots, obsessed with money and nothing but money are WORSHIPPING at the altar of their insane “religion” of more and more and more money.

  3. Tumblr deleted, and still deletes so many gay blogs, without any warning, even blogs without porn, without nudity, just blogs with candid pics of boys, speedos, portraits. “Your account has been terminated”.

    Poor bastards…

There is such a contempt for their users, for the very idea of “web 2.0”, of “social media”.

Their bots perform a random and non rational censorship, and there is no way to protest.

Tumblr became the worst blogging platform.

    Political correctness. Hypocrisy. Puritanism. Homophobia.

And I should say, I am happy if Verizon and co looses a lot of money.

They are responsible for this disaster.

It is impossible to trust such an unreliable and unpredictable blogging platform.

It is impossible to devote time, creativity, energy to a blog, if it can be nuked anytime for any reason.

It is impossible to be a man, a woman, a boy or a girl, gay, lesbian or straight or bi or trans, if there is such a censorship on what is a central part of any human life: sexuality, love, desire, beauty of bodies.

So, Yahoo, Verizon, go to hell.

Nobody will cry about your bankruptcy.

A blogging platform is a place for freedom of speech, for self-affirmation and construction, for social exchanges, for self-expression.

    Of course, rules are needed.

But the current rules of Tumblr killed the desire itself of blogging.

Yahoo and Verizon, you destroyed a gold mine.

I just hope the next owner of Tumblr will be smart enough to choice another way…
