Sometimes, life imitates art.  Such is the case with actor Noah Schnapp, who took to TikTok on Thursday afternoon to come out as gay.

“I guess I’m more similar to Will than I thought,” Noah wrote in a caption for the TikTok. “When I finally told my friends and family I was gay after being scared in the closet for 18 years and all they said was ‘we know.’”

The news comes just a few months after Noah confirmed speculation from fans of the show that his character Will is gay and in love with Mike Wheeler (played by Finn Wolfhard).

“Obviously, it was hinted at in season one,” Schnapp told Variety last summer. “It was always kind of there, but you never really knew, is it just him growing up slower than his friends? Now that he’s gotten older, they made it a very real, obvious thing.”

Noah will be back as Will in the Stranger Things season 5, which will begin filming later this year. A premiere date for the show’s fifth and final outing is yet to be announced but Noah already confirmed that his character will get a beautiful ending.

  1. It sure was frustrating that the character Mike was so oblivious to Will’s so obvious love for him . The show should have given will a boy friend in season 2 .
