Kids discuss Caitlyn Jenner

A group of kids was presented with two photos — one of Bruce Jenner and one of Caitlyn Jenner — and then asked for their reactions, which ended up being refreshingly honest and supportive.

SheKnows made the video above as part of its Hatch initiative, which aims to teach kids about what they’re consuming online and engage with them about various social issues. The children discuss Caitlyn Jenner’s gender transition and although some are a bit confused at first, they end up being quite empathetic. One girl says, “Who she wants to be is who she should be.” Another adds: “It’s important for you to be yourself, because if you’re not yourself, who are you?”

Caitlyn Jenner
Caitlyn Jenner recently became one of the most high-profile cases of someone publicly coming out as transgender in America. Her story received a lot of media attention due to her celebrity status but some argue that considering her privileged position she might not be the right poster child for transgender equality.

  1. Kid’s minds that haven’t been corrupted yet by their parents(the hating ones) or teachers(the hating ones) are wonderful.

“”Nothing to kill or die for
    And no religion too
    Imagine all the people
    Living life in peace…””

  2. Pretty good video. It’s nice to expose kids these ages to alternative genders, sexes and sexuality — we don’t know exactly what these kids are really thinking …. one (or more) could actually be thinking/feeling the same things of their own gender/sexuality.

“… but some argue that considering her privileged position she might not be the right poster child for transgender equality.”

Why not? If Caitlyn can bring this subject “front and center” here in America where way too much religion controls (or at least attempts to in a major way) “our sexuality”, then it is only a good thing. It helps to promote individualism (the bane of any religion) and responses (thought and verbal) to such individualism.

      1. It’s been all over the news for days now. Apparently the depths of stupidity has no limits at times.

  3. I know I am really considered really out of it BUT I do not think any one is a born with any notion of gender. Sexual and other reactions to the body differs greatly among people and are inborn reactions. But genders, as with languages and social norms, are not inborn. The entire discussion seems engineered.

I have to agree with you. Babies and toddlers will play with dolls and trucks. They will use pink or blue blankets and so on.

The first time gender comes into their mind is when they see the body of their opposite gender. They will ask why they aren’t the same. Then gender programming kicks in. Well, he’s a boy or she’s a girl. All boys have penises and all girls have vaginas. And that’s when colour coding becomes clear to those kids. Variations in gender never come into consideration. In fact, parents don’t even realize that what they are teaching their kids is brainwashing that has been going on for ever. What defines today from the “before” is that we are now rethinking everything we thought we knew about gender and sexuality. Something religions absolutely don’t want to happen and are in fact terrified of.

  4. I watched the entire Sawyer interview, and I’m still not convinced that this whole thing is not some grandiose publicity stunt. It certainly doesn’t help that this Big announcement came just before his new reality/Bio series is set to release.

  5. Why are they asking children about someone reversing their gender ? This is a brain wash. I know male loving females who can out do many males, physically, but who do not consider themselves male nor male-ish nor lesbian. And I know lesbians who can out-do many males who would not consider themselves male at all.

I fail to get the issue here. I sense a con game. A mind is what a ‘con’ means and this is a manipulation.

If males want to do the female, even to physical rearrangement, so be it for them. If females want to do the male, even to physical rearrangement, so be it for them. Any in between or otherwise, let them go ahead and decide. If anyone wants to be made anew, go ahead, then, go on and remake their body.

We all grow up and out and over and then we grow up a little at a time, a little all over all the time, but maybe a different way each time but time and again we need to grow up a little or else we stay back, but we do all need to grow up a little again and a little more a little as we keep growing a little bit older and then older.

There Is an old old old [3+X] distinction between the odd, irregular, unusual, discontinuous, dis-synchronous, or dissimilar and the typical, recognizable, common, smooth, simple, or hard.

The easy way is to let it go and see if it can be bourn. If it can, so be it. Have fun. Meanwhile, pay your bills. Thanks and more on.
