One Boy against the Hate

A photograph has gone viral of a 12-year-old boy standing up to a protest march by thousands of anti-LGBT protesters. The boy made his stand in the middle of the empty street in front of the 11,000 people marching on Saturday in Celaya in the Mexican state of Guanajuato.

The protesters were voicing their opposition to Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto’s plan to legalise same-sex marriage across the country.

Journalist Manuel Rodriguez, who took the image, later spoke to the boy to find out why he took such bold action. According to Regeneracion, the boy said: “I have an uncle that is gay, and I don’t like people hating him.”

The photograph has been compared with the ‘Tank man’ image of a young Chinese student standing in front of a line of tanks in Tiannanmen Square in 1989.

Currently, same-sex marriage is legal in the capital Mexico City and nine of the 31 Mexican states. Despite the protests led by the likes of Frente Nacional por la Familia (National Front for the Family), President Nieto has continued to back same-sex marriage.

  1. Go kid!
Equal marriage is legal in only 9 states since 2009, yet the Mexican Supreme Court deemed it unconstitutional last year to deny equal marriage in any state, so there is still one last stretch to make it explicitly legal all over the country, more protesting 12 year old boys will be needed!

As I remember, 12 is the legal age of consent over there. Apparently, it’s also the age of political maturity. Just trying to compare this with who 50 year old Conservative adults in the USA are voting for…

By the way, wasn’t there something kinky mentioned about 12 year old boys in one of Schwarzy’s movies, True Lies? ;)

    1. ~Caught this on Smart News yesterday, that was one of the quietest protest marches I’ve ever seen. Give em credit though he sure is one ballsy boy! Thanks be the crowd didn’t trash him like that tank driver did that kid in China…

      ~The line was actually:
Simon: “Looks like she could suck start a leaf blower, Titties that make you want to sit up and ask for buttermilk, ass like a 10 year old boy.”

      1. …Actually tried to edit the ‘trash him’ line re the tank driver & the protester: Tankman was carted away after the incident, what happened to him afterward who knows?

        1. @Chimel
~Hell I didn’t remember the exact words either I just looked it up. Damn I love this here internet and my doggy old iPad too!

    2. “Apparently, [12 is] also the age of political maturity. Just trying to compare this with who 50 year old Conservative adults in the USA are voting for…”

Pathetically, this is so true. And I’ll finish that sentence: … Donald Trump and any religious zealot’s ideas.

  2. “Most men lead lives of quiet desperation…” – H. D. Thoreau

What Hank meant with that was that most folks sell out to the society they’re in, no matter who or how much it hurts. If your culture compels marriage but prohibits marriage equality, you end up with millions of homosexuals taking spouses of the opposite sex and living lives not just of desperation, but of deception, and irresistible secret adultery that could expose both of them to various incurables.

As one of those incredibly rare true bisexuals, let me say I love women too much to put them at risk, and chance the disruption of their families by forcing gay men to marry them. And I love gay men too much to see them live miserable, dishonest, and dangerous lives. All to keep up appearances just so some blue noses can say the culture “looks good” to them.

I have happily lived times of being exclusively straight and exclusively gay and discovered to my delight that sex isn’t just sex. Between men isn’t the same as between men and women – they’re different psychological and physical planets existing in parallel universes, the sole common denominator is orgasm and that’s it. And they’re both delicious. Keep an open mind and heart, enjoy your ‘star trek’ into the wonderful galaxy of feelings and nerve endings that awaits.

    1. “As one of those incredibly rare true bisexuals, let me say …”

Incredibly rare? Sorry to break it to you, horsey, but there are literally millions “just like you” in the world. I know you think you’re something even “more special” in this regard, but you’re not — just one of an incredibly minor sub-society in the world of baby makers.

      1. It’s not me that says I’m rare – it’s the radicals in our LGBT A-Z community – they insist that most bi’s are kidding themselves – that they’re really gay. Who am I to argue?

  3. I believe that we should grab all the people that think like that and put them against a wall, and then proceed to shoot them in the head. That would be nice, people like that don’t deserve to live, they lower the IQ of the human population just by existing. And don’t come to me with those “killing is wrong” shit. These people are causing suffering, if we kill them we are not causing suffering, we are just putting them out of their misery.

    1. sorry mate but don’t thinks so. This people suck, they don’t want to know whats really happening, they been sold the same proposition 8 shit, but at the end of the day they are just poor fake middle class, poorly educate people, I really don’t think is all on them, they don’t have my sympathy but the best way to deal with them is ignore them, if you saw a demo like this one, let them be, don’t insult them, they lucky to live in a country with freedom of expression and the freedom to protest anything, as I am. But in good news they just represent a really small portion of Mexico, the organizers said it was a million of people around the country in this demos, but the real number is about half, in Guadalajara the place with the bigger attendance they said it was 250 thousand but real number was around 50 thousand, still a lot but it gives hope. Sadly like proposition 8 they have the support of a religion, in this case the catholic church and the money of some right wing rich mexican families(of course the catholic church are cheap bastard they didn’t pay a dime of this) and thats for me even more scary.

      1. “[they’re] lucky to live in a country with freedom of expression and the freedom to protest anything, as I am.”

        Where is that?

“in this case the catholic church and the money of some right wing rich mexican families(of course the catholic church are cheap bastard they didn’t pay a dime of this) and thats for me even more scary.”

Just like in the U.S.A., unfortunately.

  4. Guys I’m from Mexico and my opinion is: that this anti gay protest happening evidenced the power that church have over the population (because they called for this massive wage of protests) and shows the high level of homophobia that every lgbt person in the country has to deal with every day. Mexico is the second country with most hate crimes against lgbt people in the world (the first one is brazil). And also there’s no freedom of expression in Mexico because it’s the most dangerous country in the world to be a journalist.

    1. And sadly a lot of people got cheated to assist to that protest, the problem is not the people, the problem is the misinformation from the church
